Locks & Accessories

Whilst Sunray do not market or promote the range of locks and accessories separately from the diverse range of Steel Doors, Louvre Doors and Stackable Louvre Systems, each product range enables a number of locking options or accessories to be specified. As a guide to the Sunray locking options and accessories available, the following is a simplistic overview to the range.

Single Point Locking

This will tend to be one secure point of locking, typically fitted centrally on the door leaf and use a number of different options for access i.e. Lever, Knob or just key driven for access.

Multi Point Locking

Normally referred to when a Panic Bar is specified, the Bar horizontal push Bar will connect to a vertical shaft so that the locking pins will engage in both the top and bottom of the door providing more than one locking point, hence the definition.

Euro Profile Cylinder

This is a widely used product and will often consist of a five pin cylinder to be specified. When there are numerous Doors in a given project “Key Suiting or Keyed alike” can be requested to ensure ease of access.

Cylinder Guard

Steel Cylinder Guards are often seen on SR (SECURITY RATED) Doors and sit around the key driven cylinder to prevent the Cylinder from being drilled or bumped when attacked.

Panic Escape

Doors used for panic escape have a panic bar and would be used in public areas i.e. shops or shopping centres. Generally, doors used for panic escape cannot be opened from the outside, but this facility is available, if required.
If in doubt about the use of a panic escape door, consult your fire officer, or contact Sunray’s sales team.

Emergency Escape

For emergency escape, the doors should allow personnel to leave, but not necessarily with a panic bar. Emergency escapes are used in factories or offices and warehouses where there is limited occupancy.
If in doubt about the use of emergency escapes door please consult your fire officer, or contact Sunray’s sales team to discuss.

Access Control

Doors with access control are opened electrically usually using an internal solenoid. This in turn is triggered using a swipe card, number pad or other access control entry device. The doors can usually be overridden with a key. Access control can also allow the doors to be unlocked remotely. Doors are ‘fail secure’ meaning the door remains locked if power fails.

Key Driven

A key driven lock is used where a door has to be unlocked from the outside using a key. Some doors need to be re-locked with a key once closed. Some of Sunray’s doors have the facility whereby they can be unlocked with a key, but when the door is closed it is returned to its locked (and certified) state “Slam it and it’s locked”.
