/ 01 — Brand story

Why Sunray?

Sunray is an industry leader in innovative, high-security and fire-rated steel doorsets. British made, and part of the ASSA ABLOY group, with over 70 years of engineering experience behind every doorset.

The brand pillars, always in this order:
Engineered Solutions | Bespoke Designs | Unrivalled Quality | British Made.

Register: honest manufacture, engineering credibility, defence-adjacent. Lead with specifics — LPS 1175 SR4, BS EN 1634-1, ISO 9001 — not intensifiers.

/ 02 — Tone of voice

How Sunray sounds

Headlines are two clauses joined by a comma, abstract then concrete ("Engineered for precision, designed for you."). Hero copy stays under fifteen words with a terminal full stop. Section headings are declarative or interrogative.

Say this

"LPS 1175 SR4, tested to BS EN 1634-1 for up to 4 hours."

Not this

"Revolutionary, world-class, industry-leading protection."

Micro-labels

Engineered Solutions

All-caps, tight tracking, set in Sunray Orange.

/ 03 — Logo system

The wordmark

"SUNRAY." is a custom italicised, forward-leaning sans with three diagonal speed-stripes to the left of the lettering. The stripes take the wordmark colour, never orange. Always keep the terminal full stop — it is a deliberate brand mark.

Sunray primary logo
Primary logo — light backgrounds
Sunray white and orange logo
White + orange — dark blue (#00243F) backgrounds
Sunray all-white logo
All white — black, image or busy backgrounds
Clear space

Keep at least one cap-height of the wordmark clear on every side.

Minimum size

Proposed 120px wide (digital) / 30mm (print), pending Sunray confirmation.

Misuse

Don't recolour, don't render the stripes orange, don't stretch, rotate or add effects, don't drop the full stop, don't place on busy or low-contrast grounds.

/ 04 — Colour

Palette

Orange is a single-use accent, never a panel fill. Sections separate with white space, not borders.

/ 06 — Light & dark

Light and dark treatments

Light is the default: Paper White surface, Ink and Body Grey text, Deep Navy for strong blocks, orange used sparingly. Dark inverts to a Deep Navy or near-black surface with white text and the white logo variant; the orange accent stays the same.

Engineered Solutions
Dark surface treatment

On dark, use the white/orange wordmark and keep orange as the single accent. White text on Deep Navy reaches roughly 17:1 contrast.

Focused field

/ 08 — Imagery & iconography

Art direction

Hero — real industrial environments, cyan/steel grade, negative space for copy
Product — clean white ground, tight full-door crop
Sector — anonymous facilities, cool restrained grade

Hero photography favours hands and silhouettes over faces, with underexposed shadows and warm arc highlights. The cyan/steel grade (#3B7FA7) is a grading reference, not a UI colour. Iconography is thin single-weight line (~1.5pt), outline only, single-tone — body grey on light, white on dark. Never restyle third-party certification marks.

Reserve orange for accents, not body text; do not set small orange text on navy. Confirm against final approved hexes.
